Introduction

Unfortunately, with the Coronavirus Pandemic we have had to postpone the Programme. Good news, we will be looking to redevelop the content and package it for teaching online.

The Nga Vaka o Kaiga Tapu programmes take the conceptual frameworks and bring them to life by equipping participants with knowledge of how to use culture to restore sacred relationships and protective factors in Pacific families to strengthen wellbeing.

This programme builds the capability and confidence of participants to prevent and appropriately respond to violence when it occurs in Pacific families and communities.

The programme is designed for Pacific practitioners, community support workers and members of the Pacific community who are often the first people approached by families experiencing violence (church leaders, teachers etc.).

This programme builds the capability and confidence of participants to prevent and appropriately respond to violence when it occurs in Pacific families and communities.

The programme also covers relevant legislation, latest data, safety planning and managing risk with an emphasis on the experiences of Pacific peoples and their families.

The programme is delivered across New Zealand throughout the year in Cook Islands, English, Fijian, Kiribati, Niuean, Samoan, Tokelauan, Tongan and Tuvaluan languages.  The English programme provides a pan-Pacific perspective.
