Life under lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic has been stressful for many of our Pacific families, so we need to look out for each other. Because we’ve had to stay at home in our bubbles, it might make it hard for victims to get help when there is violence in their home.
If you have a family member or friend that you think might be at risk of violence in their home, give them a call or text them to see how they are doing and just check-in on them.
If you are a neighbour of someone that you know is living in a violent situation, you can hear violence next door call the police on 111.
If you have a family member or friend that you think might be at risk of violence in their home, give them a call or text them to see how they are doing and just check-in on them.
Not all of our victims are in the situation where they call for help so we need to look out for each other, we need to do it for them.
We can lean on our cultural practices and our values to help strengthen our families. This is a great time for our parents and grandparents to be teaching their children and passing on their cultural knowledge so they can be proud of who they are, where they come from, and see themselves as valued and important members of their families.
